Privacy Policy for VivaSona Stage
Last updated: August 24, 2026
Who we are
VivaSona Stage is made by VivaSona LLC ("VivaSona," "we," "us"). This policy covers the VivaSona Stage app — on the web, iOS, and Android — and the services it connects to.
The short version
VivaSona Stage is built to work fully offline, on your own device, whether or not you ever create an account. If you do create an account, we store the musical content you choose to sync (songs, setlists, chord charts, and your annotations on them) so it's available across your devices. We don't run ads, we don't use third-party analytics or advertising trackers, and we don't sell your data to anyone. The sections below describe exactly what does get collected and why.
Information we collect
Account information
If you create an account, authentication (your email address, password or sign-in method, and account session) is handled by our backend provider, Supabase. We don't independently store your password — Supabase does, using its own security practices.
Your musical content, if you sign in
Signing in is optional. VivaSona Stage works fully offline with all of your data stored locally on your device. If you sign in, the following is also stored in our Supabase database and Supabase Storage, tied to your account, so it can sync across your devices:
- Songs (title, artist, key, tempo, tuning, performance notes, lyrics/chords)
- Setlists (venue, gig date, curfew time, gig notes, song order)
- PDF chord charts/lead sheets you upload, and your hand-drawn annotations on them
- Your subscription tier (free / Pro / Studio)
This data is protected by database-level access rules (Row Level Security) that restrict every row to your own account — enforced by the database itself, not just the app.
Setlist sharing: if you share a setlist with someone else via a share code, that code lets the recipient copy the setlist into their own account. It doesn't give them ongoing access to your account, and the code expires automatically.
Subscription and payment information
Subscription purchases are processed by Stripe (on the web) or by Apple's and Google's own in-app purchase systems (on iOS and Android). VivaSona never sees or stores your full card number — that's handled entirely by Stripe, Apple, or Google. We use RevenueCat to keep track of which subscription tier is active on your account so the app and our servers can unlock the features you've paid for.
AI Practice Coach (Studio tier only)
If you're signed in on the Studio tier and choose to use the AI Practice Coach feature, the song title, artist, key, tempo, and whatever practice question or topic you type are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate a response. We don't send your account identity, email, or any other personal data as part of that request — just the practice-session details above. This only happens when you actively use the feature.
Real-time band sync ("Band Clock")
If you use the Band Clock feature to sync tempo and set information live with other band members' devices, a temporary room code, a device name you choose, and your instrument role are relayed between the devices in that session. This relay is in-memory only — it is not written to a database and does not persist after the session ends. The device name and role you enter for this feature are not tied to your account identity.
Information we do not collect
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking pixels. We do not collect your device's advertising identifier. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
How we use this information
- To provide the core app functionality — storing and syncing your musical content across your own devices.
- To authenticate you and maintain your account.
- To process and verify your subscription.
- To generate AI practice suggestions, only when you request them.
- To operate the real-time band-sync feature, only while you're using it.
- To respond if you contact us for support.
Third parties we rely on
| Service | Purpose | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Authentication, database, file storage | Account credentials, synced app content |
| Stripe | Web payment processing | Payment details (handled entirely by Stripe) |
| Apple / Google | In-app purchases on iOS/Android | Payment details (handled entirely by Apple/Google) |
| RevenueCat | Subscription/entitlement tracking | Your account identifier and subscription status |
| Google (Gemini API) | AI Practice Coach responses | Song title/artist/key/tempo and your typed question, only when you use this feature |
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle the data described above.
Data retention and deletion
Your synced data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete a song, setlist, or annotation, it's marked as deleted and removed from sync going forward.
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time, in the app: sign in, tap the Synced button in the top toolbar, and choose Delete My Account. This immediately and permanently deletes your account, your synced songs/setlists/charts/annotations, and cancels any subscription billed through VivaSona Stage directly. If you don't have access to the app, you can request deletion instead at stage.vivasona.app/account-deletion.html or by emailing support@vivasona.com from your account's email address; we'll process the request within 30 days.
If you have an active subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play, deleting your VivaSona Stage account does not cancel it — subscriptions billed through those stores can only be cancelled by you, in that store's own subscription settings.
Local-first by design
VivaSona Stage is designed to work fully offline. Your data lives primarily on your own device; syncing to our servers is optional and only happens if you're signed in. If you never create an account, none of your musical content ever leaves your device.
Children's privacy
VivaSona Stage is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of VivaSona Stage after a change means you accept the updated policy.
